It is with heavy heart that I announce the following news recieved from the Meridies news group Tavern Wall:

..."Ulrich von Aighard, in real life David Haynes, passed away March 24, 2001. David had a heart attack and car wreck March 17 in Bowling Green Kentucky. Services will be Wednesday, March 28th at the McReynolds Nave and Larson Funeral Home in Clarkesville, TN. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Mass will be at 5:30 p.m."...

Ulrich was a Pelican and also had served as a Baron in the Palatine Barony of the Far West. He is remembered by many in this area with great fondness.

Baron Ulrich lived in my shire of Spinning Winds in Calontir for several years. When I was very young, and completely new to the SCA, he was kind enough to reach out to me, and took the time to talk to me and teach me when others ignored me. If I recall correctly, his harness was pretty cool, too. I shall remember him fondly...

Baron Master Ulrich lived in our Shire of Ravenslake in the Middle Kingdom (Great Lakes Naval Base is in our shire) for a while several years ago. He was a wonderful man. I helped him get his Middle Kingdom Authorization (I was his authorization opponent as well as his local marshal). He fought well, brewed well and did everything he did with style and panache. My heart goes out to his wife and children in this time of sadness.

Ulrich enriched the lives of all who dealt with him. He will be missed.
