basinet with avintail?

basinet with avintail?

what gauge wire would be required for a avintail(sp?)? also, if I have a avintail on a basinet, is a gorget required?

The guage depends on whether you are doing rivetted or butted and what type of steel you are using.

In most places a gorget is not required under an aventail. However, that aventail has to be long enough to be usefull (basically past your shoulder points.) I recoemmend a gorget under the aventail anyway because I've seen how an aventail can lay against a fighters neck when he's moving and if it's laying against you, it isn't providing any protection.

They always check under my camail for the gorget in armour inspections in the Midrealm. As much as I am into authenticity, I still wear a cup and a gorget to protect against churlish behavior.
