Shield and Dagger

Anybody ever try fighting this way??

Normally in wars I am a spearman. At An Tir West War this last weekend the battles were fought using Winds of War (basically a bunch of random events in card form - the commanders of the two armies each draw a card to see what restrictions/benefits their side has for that particular battle). In one of the scenarios the West drew Heroes (fifteen of their fighters got to resurrect, no one else did), our side got no spears..

As I had no other weapon available I grabbed my shield and went out armed with just a dagger. What a frickin blast! This style is perfect for a bridge battle.. only got two kills before I got killed by a enemy pikeman, but much better than I was hoping for when I started out.

Cant wait til the next bridge battle Image

Sounds like fun.
Every now and then I pull out my rattan dagger and fight florentine with it in my left (Gauntlet wearing!) hand.

Screw the range game, run in and climb them like a Sherpa!

When you have 2 people fighting the same form, it's a blast.
It's also usually very short and brutal.

It also makes any fencers nearby look at you in a new way.....

I fought that way at fighter practice. I'm hooked. I was fighting against a guy that was fighting flourentine useing sword and axe.
Needless to say I got mercilessly butchered, but it was very fun. Image I'm going to do it more often.

Do it at war. Its great for times when you're really bunched up on someone...

Nothing like barreling into a couple of guys and stabbing them to death with a big knife Image
