Well, its been a while...
I used to do this every spring, but I've been somewhat pre-occupied lately.
I would like folks to send me essays for the essay board. It sounds like a tough assignment, but it really isn't. The word "essay" itself brings back memories of strict English teachers demanding "so many words, on such and such a topic"...
But, writing about something you like, is nothing like writing for a homework assignment. You'll find that it comes easier now that you're out of school, and you have access to a spell checker in most word processing programs. Hell, you might just have fun writing it... just ask any of the other folks who have written essays for the site.
Keep in mind. This is not a scholarly journal, and I'm not your 10th grade English Teacher.
But... A few pointers...
1. Pick a topic and stick to it.
2. Stay organized (chronological "this first, this second, this last", is the form I like to see).
3. Run it through a spell checker.
I'm updating the Essays section of the Archive. I'm rearranging old essays, and setting up different topic headers, and maybe introducing a few new essay topics.
New Topic Headers:
Armour Construction Techniques
Armouring Tools (construction, or whatever)
Reference (Scholarly type essays)
Historical (accuracy, periods, etc)
SCA Fighting
Whatever else... stuff that don't fit a mold.
(If you can think of other topics that would fit, mention them...)
Copy the text of your essay, and send it to me in an email message. Do not send it as an attachment, as I do not open them.
