Tales of the Pas...

Post by Shamey »

Well not really much to tell... due to time constraints my little Pas didn't turn out as planned. BUT I did get to meet Rhys Gethin - he is a most wonderful chivalrous gentleman whom I am deelpy honoured to have had the pleasure of crossing swords with. He certainly emulates the true ideal of Chivalry and Knighthood and Syr Parlan, Prince of the Mists, is very fortunate to have such a person as his squire.

We did three passes, one single sword, one sword/shield and the final was his pole axe against my sword/shield. For each of the bouts he presented me with a token - a pin (which my Knight still has in his possession), the Book of Knighthood & Chivalry and his final gift was his pole axe.

I just wanted to let everyone know I am deeply grateful to Rhys and to the small entourage he brought with him. Rhys is truly a most wonderful person.

Finally got back home, but my computer has failed me.
Shameless is being modest! I will write more
when I am back on line.

As I was saying...
Kelley was a pleasure to meet, both on and off the field. Her enthusiasm about fighting is infectious!
I had arranged to meet her and her knight Saturday evening after I had arrived on site. Being an overconfident Pennsic newbie, I looked at a map and found the location. setting off, I marched up the hill behind the Fort. Getting to the top, I discovered a wonderful view of the site, but not the Bedford encampment. I then set off down the side of the hill. I continued up the road towards the site of the woods battle. To save space, let's just say I spent three hours wandering site until I found Leah's camp.
We finally reset the time that we were going to met, Wednsday. She was there, at the appointed time. Unfortunately, she had been mistreated by the allies of the Middle kingdom, taking several hard shots. She was more than willing to go ahead with our challenge, even though she was obviously in pain. Fortunately, she was convinced to rest till Thursday.
We did meet Thursday, and it was a great joy to me. Leah is a very capable fighter, quickly adapting to the different styles that I used against her. She was enthusiastic and determined. I found her to be a wonderful opponent to met and, should she continue to be dilligent in her practice, will be an opponent to be reckoned with.
It is hoped that this Challenge/Pas will become an annual occurrence. I invite you all to come and participate. Although this was a small pick up, those who participated were very wonderful people and adapt combatants.

All the best,
Rhys
