Great axe

I was told that I should try to find great axe manuals online to help me improve my head breaking... But none of the names I was told to try produced much result. Anyone know where I might be able to find something??

Start by going to
www.aemma.com (I think its .com, might be .org) and look in their publications section. I think the historical great axe techniques would be found in La Jeu de la Hache (probably butchered the spelling of that one) and I think there are some plates of the Talhoffer fectbuch that show axes.
You should quite playing with axes and learn Fiore!

As an "Old School" great ax fighter here is some advice. Ax is it's own beast. Do not try and fight it like an SCA polearm. Great Axes are in your face mugging weapons that require you to an exploit or make a quick, fast, and hard opening. Ax is my favorite weapon style and I have three great axes right now I fight wih. Different lengths for different jobs
As a Viking persona I have developed working on great ax over the years an find if you read some of the old viking sagas and tales from Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Also some of the writings in England and Ireland of that time period gives a good idea of how the ax was used by those cultures in the Viking times. I almost hate fighting a standard SCA polearm because they are nothing like real historical polearms. Unless you are a Japanese persona.

Hi Guys,
Le Jeu won't help you with a regular axe - it is a manual for a pollaxe. The weapon intended needs to be at least 6' in length, and presumes a complex head as in a pollaxe or bec de corbin, and a haft shod with a spike. Most of the time you are leading with the buttspike (guard of the queue) to stab.

No JL my cousin is handling Axemoor just fine. I am happy with Small Gray Bear as my Barony and Axe as my favorite weapon. I should be there with armor. Might even get a chance to fight
