period combat manuals and recources?

For those of us who wish to talk about the many styles and facets of recreating Medieval armed combat.

period combat manuals and recources?

Post by muttman »

After hearing much good for some time now about some of the period combat resources, I am ready to start checking them out. Any suggestions where a good starting point would be and where to get them? Anything free online is good right now as funds are low, but someplace to buy them will be good to as I can do that when money is a little less tight. I would prefer stuff translated into plain English, and I am less interested in later period rapier type fencing than in earlier sword and board, greatsword, and polearm styles.
So where would a good place to start be?
Thanks
John

Also try: www.aemma.org Go look under knowledge base, they have a bunch of stuff set up by century, and a cool cross referencing system.

Actually Vitus, Hal hasn't put up anything on the marxbruder.org site except for a picture and some links that don't connect to anything except a blank page, it's kinda sparse right now.

I'm still waiting for my @marxbruder.org e-mail address to come through!
