I couldn't reply in the thread so here is my reply.
I rarely read this forum as I usually stick to the authenticity forum and rarely even post there.
JC as for the armour being used with or without shields. My understanding from reading the ordinances in Ruhl's latest article is that shields were used in Italy but not in England.
I was quite pleased with the program and could nitpick if I so chose. But I have never seen a better done program on a topic in the medieval period.

Would you either post or e-mail the information on the article you site, as i would like to read it.
Since I am working on a portrayal of an Italian man-at-arms, that information would be very useful for me.
I did not know that, but it would make sense that the differences in practice and/or style would be regional.
