Leg armor has always been a problem for me as well. I am short and rather stocky and I haven't met a set of legs that has liked me.
I started out in carpet (sigh! those were the days) and moved into leather w/ splints years ago. My thigh armor has always been my own worst enemy. Over the years I had reworked the designs numerous times. I tried different suspension systems, alternate ways to buckle & fasten, you name it. To no avail. Now I just accept it.
Nowadays, Upper leg armor is not required here, but as much as they hinder me I wouldn't get caught without em'
