Gulf Wars XX Photos

Post by Katheline »

I just thought I'd start a thread where people can post photos (or links to groups of photos) from Gulf Wars XX.

To start things off, the following photo link was posted on the Gleann Abhann list: http://kungaloosh.smugmug.com/Gulf-Wars ... 2250_rKWsq

These aren't my photos.

Also posted on the list was that the official Gate count was 3734 people. Which is better than last year's numbers of 3651. By Monday there were already 3100 people on-site.

Turns out Trimaris didn't have anyone to shoot me, so the ramp policy changed... That's understandable.

Hehe! That was fun to watch. I'm the guy in red on the far left with a spear. That was a fun hole to fight in until they pulled back from the corner.

Archer's can't shoot from the ramp if they aren't in danger of being shot in return. Since we didn't have any archers inside and the people on ramps can't be attacked by hand weapons it wouldn't be right for him to stand on the ramp and shoot. He did get a few off though. I think he shot me in the back of the calf.

That might be right although I thought archers could shoot from them. Hell, I just show up and stab things...

No 'fighting' from the ramps.
Archers have always been allowed to fire from the ramps.

At the time he was up there, were all the archers dead inside the fort?

I don't believe that all of the archers in the fort were dead. I know that at least until the long injury hold that Lord William Millwright and I were using our torsion ballista to try and kill an archer inside the fort (near the fence line). While we were firing I noticed the archer on the outside ramp.

The rules read that archers can fire from the ramps, and they're vulnerable to other archers and siege artillery. There was no mention in the rules that it would change mid battle. I get that it would seem pretty tough from the defender's perspective since it would feel like they can't do much about it, but I'm kind of steamed that they stopped William from firing for these reasons:
1. We finally built some siege ramps, and having an archer fire from them is a legal and legitimate use of them.
2. We worked hard to kill their other archers.
3. William worked his butt of to get that good, and it's not like he was sitting on a Lay-z-boy killing the zerg. He had to run up and down that ramp!
4. He looked good, and he was fun as hell to watch.
5. You can climb out of the fort using an enemy siege ramp if you want.
6. You can destroy an unguarded siege ramp with a rock or trebuchet ammo, or by simply touching it from the outside.

I think there are a few ways this could be improved, like the archer can be killed by touching the unprotected ramp, and the archer can't fire from a contested ramp or some such. Sometime to be a little more realistic. Because as a spearman, the urge to run up and skewer him is right there. :)

Okay...another Japanese persona with very similar armor (though the pants I knew were way wrong, but you never know).

I didn't think it was you, cause I'm SURE there would have been stories of the antics of Nissan on a horse....
