OK, any non-western European sword form, at all,

For those of us who wish to talk about the many styles and facets of recreating Medieval armed combat.

Post by freiman the minstrel »

OK, guys,

about a week ago posted to this board saying that I am starting to get a little curious about Japanese sword forms. I asked if anybody knew where I could look at one on the web.

I have found about half a dozen places that I could order a video tape of sword Katas for about thirty dollars. I am curious, but not that curious, yet.

How about this? Does anybody know a place on the web I could look at ANY non European sword forms, Katas, practice drills, or the like.

Korean, Chinese, Thai, African, Indian, Anything. I an very curious.

Howdy, Freiman.

I used to study oriental sword forms and know they're quite popular in training and competition, so I figured there would be a lot of videos online. A quick Google search ("sword kata" video) popped up 150 results. Here are some of the topmost:

BLAM Gallery (Japanese kata vids)

CyberKwoon (Chinese weapon vids)

Iron Crane/White Lotus (Chinese sword vids)

City Jitsu (basic Japanese kata)
http://www.cityjitsu.org (follow links, url is too long to easily post)

These videos and the Google search should get you started - post links if you find something really cool.
