I'm authorized thrusty but have only ever used it on an a little axe I use at war.

How do you guys build your low profile thrusting tips for your swords? Just curious.

Hi!

I cut four 1 1/2" discs from 1/2" camping pad foam (the foam I use is quite resilient, that's why I need four discs for proper give). Those are glued together with contact cement and then glued to the sword. A sleve from 2" nylon webbing is added in a way that half of the webbing is in contact with the rattan, the other half with the foam. Now the usual strapping tape (I only add very little tape to the striking surface of the tip) and you're ready for the final duct tape layer.

- 3 discs of blue foam camp pad.
- 1 disc of open cell foam at the end.
- tape together and to sword.
- take a piece of thin nylon strap and run it along the front blade, over the tip and down the back blade.
- cover all with tape.

Use 3 disks of camp mat or beer coozy, the same size as your stick. lay down a straping tape cross on the floor, the shape of a + . Put the 1st disk in the center, put the stick on the disk and fold the arms of the + onto the stick. run a TIGHT strip of tape around the end of the stick. make the next cross like an x, repeat. For the 3rd disk, make the 8 pointed "red-cross" cross, then tape that down. be sure not to compress the foam too much while your taping it on or you'll make it too hard.

I've found this method to keep the tip from flying off with that soo close tip shot.

I use a thin leather layer almost like a jelly roll with just one layer.
other then that its almost the same process as every one else

Another alternative for padding, I use 2 disks cut from a computer keyboard wrist rest.

Like to also recommend using contact cement to attach the disks to the rattan and also each other. And to reinforce that making a collar of some kind (I contact cement suede around the foam to keep the tip from getting ripped off) that will help the tip from getting torn off.

I use Losthelm's method, but I use campfoam and roll it like a jelly roll.

Materials:
2 - layers of 1.25" diameter (or the diameter of the stick) (1/2" thickness) blue camping foam
2 - 8" long peices of nylon webbing.
1 - Strapping tape.

Procedure:
1. Take the two disks and tape them together. I don't bother gluing.
2. Attach the tip to the top of the sword using 4 8" long strips of strapping tape. Each tape peice is rotated 45 degrees from the previous one (from the top persective)
3. Attach the two pieces of nylon webbing over the top of the tip at 90 degree angle.
4. Spiral wrap tape up and down tip completely covering the tip.

I attach my tips with a whole lot of little strips of strapping tape. I make them out of three layers of camping foam. I contact cement them together when I happen to have both the time and the contact cement. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether I do or not.

Afterwards, I wrap the tip in a single layer of black nylon camo tape. Seems to work good
