I been looking at the Starfire sword line, I am kinda fuzzy on what he means by "ridged" and "nonriged" blades. Can anyone shed some light on this? Also if you got on let me know what they like and if they really are the legendary "crowbar with a handle".

The difference is very simple. Instead of making one pass with a slack belt for each side of the blade, the riged blades take two passes on the 10" wheel.

In all seriousness, yup, they pretty much are crowbars on handles. It's not that their ballance is that far off, although it is pretty blade heavy, it's just that everything is overweight. That said, until I actualy got
real swords, I liked mine a hell of a lot. I learned the limitations of a sword -no, they will
not chop through trees like you see in the movies, no they are
not good weapons to throw like spears, like you see in the movies, and on and on and on.
And with their ironclad lifetime garuntee, they're
still a pretty good buy.
If you think you might want to smash up stuff in the back yard (like I did!) ...yeah, go ahead and get a starfire. Save real swords for real cutting.

http://www.starfireswords.com/I have a DQ-12 12" Dagger with Quillions and while steel fighting found it to be an Excellent back-up "Oh poop" weapon.
when cared for they look amazing, but again it's a costume weapon, and shouldn't be abused agaist a tree.

They are excellent for what they are designed for - theatrical combat in a Renn. Faire setting. I have 4 swords & 2 daggers, and we use them for edge-to-edge hollywood-style fight skits.

I have 2 starfires I use for rebated steel fighting with a few groups in NA, the main problem I have is how offten I need to debur the edging. I am saving up to get a Paul Binns, He has a much better quality sword, I have heard that talerwan forge is also good. Welcomer to rebated fighting, enjoy

My group fights rebated steel and we have a guy that fights with a Starfire. Very light and non-tiresome, but he has to "de-burr" it alot. I use a blade made by Badger Blades. Used to be called Sky Castle. Awesome sword. I literally put the thing through a car door with no damage. I fight witht the thing constantly. They have lifetime gaurantees, and if you are close to one of the many faires they sell at, they will replace the blade on the spot. Starfire makes you send the whole thing back to their main shop.
