WMA in San Antonio, TX - A couple Vid's

Post by Christopher Vaughnstrever »

Well, we have had a bumpy, yet steady start for the past several months. We are The Ritterlich Fechtschule (Yes Fechtschule has the meaning of an event originally, though I like the modern interpretation which is understandable to the common person outside of wma) We study & Train in the Liechtenauer Society of the 15th century as well as Joachim Meyer of the 16th century. We cover Dagger, Longsword and Pole Axe atm. There has not been a San Antonio WMA group in San Antonio and tired of looking to no avail I simply started a group, we have 4 steady members currently.

One class per week we do cover 1:33 with sword and buckler. There is a joy to see the progression of the fighting systems from the 12th century right on through the 16th century. Each art we cover is from Germany of course.

Our Primary focus is of Meyer and we like to start out with 1/4 of the class with the centuries before Meyer.

This first video is some pole axe play and the second video is two young boys age 11 and 12. They have had around 8~10 hours worth of study and training up to the point of this video. The reason they are doing a specific sequence of techniques, is to teach them some fundamentals and as a memory tool I use for people to easily recall techniques.

Aye. He lives over near Converse, goes by the mundane name Mike. Enlisted navy, shaved head, sense of humor of a five year old. I know he trains in WMA with some local folk, though I have not yet taken him up on his invitation to join them so I couldn't say who.
