Very well done. I have been doing this an awfully long time. Sometimes we need to be reminded what inspired us in the beginning. This video made me feel good about the young folks who are still investing themselves in the SCA.

Nice video, Much better image of the SCA than I typically run across. Looks like you guys have a really great group of folks out there!
Cheers,

Not really an SCA video, and confusing with the title "Brotherhood of Steel" and then use of both steel weapons and rattan. Well shot, but could use another cut.
And that Cameroon fellow, he's just odd. His colors certainly aren't period.

I have never been able to take off a helmet and do the shampoo-commercial-flowing-hair thing but that was nowhere close to the campiest thing I have ever seen on a promotional video. Well done.
Nice armor too, somebody needs to make these guys some nice rattan.

From what I saw, they fight only with rattan. The steel was just for show.

IIRC visible modern logos are illegal on the list field at this time.

Murdock:
As His Grace Eikbrandr said to me (during his reign) when that rule came about:
"If anyone bitches to me about the logo on my gloves, I'll just call them runes....and then hit them with a stick"
I always knew I liked him
Oh most Saintly George:
Rattan is a training tool we use to simulate live steel combat. As such when we do pell work, or I.33, or various other things we use live steel as it is the end goal of our training. When we fight we use rattan because it is the training tool of choice for our combat sport. Rest assured this is a 100% SCA video, if you want to check out
www.midrealmbrotherhood.weebly.com and flip through our website, it is very openly a website for an SCA unit.
As for Camaroon Smyyythe, my most vibrantly colored squire brother...yea he's odd, but he makes a great meat shield for me to hide behind
All the best,
Cedric

Thank you, that is exactly what we hoped to accomplish with this, let the world see how much we love this sport, and hopefully get a few more people to see it as we see it, not just through the perception filter of whatever movie they saw with some foam fighting larp group.....good god I hate being asked the "So it's like Role Models?" question.

I like to ask people "I don't know. Is golfing like Caddyshack? Do you feel McHale's Navy is an accurate portrayal of the men and women of the US Navy? Does watching The Longest Yard give you insight to the mind of men who actually play pro football?"
"So it's like Role Models?" is one of the more frustratingly repeated questions I get from my friends.

My daughter Maggie is featured at 2:15. I'm a very proud papa. I plan to use this video to help recruit other college-age folks for the SCA.

With the rule changes to cut & thrust and rapier blades on that side of the game, the steel weapons shown are actually very appropriate. While I'm not suggesting this group fights CnT, as I do not know them personally, it is actually very close to what I'm building my CnT kit to be like - all within the current SCA rule set.
And to you Cedric, an excellent video. Please convey my thanks to your sword-brothers and sword-sisters in your unit for their work on this. I plan to share with my own group.
Respectfully,

Maelgwyn: Sorry we stole her, but we're keeping her. She's cute, and violent, and equally skilled at making us all look super pretty and killing people.

I imagine Camerrooooon could be a good meat shield. He never really could fight, all the bulk seemed to slow him down- notice how this one fighter lands a smacking butt wrap, then cuts right through his shield with a mighty blow to defeat him!

What's her secret to keeping her chain mail drape from eating her hair alive?!?! I have to be as delicate as a surgeon when the mail comes off, and that is braided and wearing a coif!

Not only does it treat the SCA well and showcase reasonable armor and reasonable technique but it DOESN'T showcase a bunch of goobers talking about "Violence and Boobies". Whichever Filming/director student directed and edited it together should be congratulated.... and hired to follow the BotN team around for a month or so next year... and the shampoo commercial hair wave was almost a re-requisite but may have been a bit overdone. Follow it up with a 'gatoraid' shot through the bar-grill of of sweat dripping off a fighters nose.

She normally wears a ponytail under an arming cap. The flowing mane isn't free like that under her helmet.
