Mine battle

Post by Alcyoneus »

We fought in the 5x5x30 tunnel yesterday.

It was fun.

One gal declined to enter after finding out she was a bit claustrophobic, so she waited outside as the 'clean-up' crew.

It could be hard to work the spear above, I often hit the boards at head level with my gauntlets. Working chest towards the wall, it was easy for the guy next to me to bump me into the wall.

It was hard to determine exactly what you were hitting, did you bounce off of him, and hit the wall solid?

We called hold whenever any one who had died, wanted out. Tempers never flaired, and a good time was had by all.

A lot of dust came out of the tunnel.
First go was choice of weapon systems.
At one point, our side blocked out the light behind us (or so I'm told).
Tactically, a couple shields in front, backed by one or two spears would have worked pretty well. Having the second rank with florentine mainly interfered with the spear work.

Second go was swords only, no shield or spears. I took a no-dachi, and used it as a onehanded spear, mostly thrusting downward. It worked pretty well, I got my share. :)

Then, I was rushed by a florentine. I blocked the first couple, until my sword was blocked against the wall. There was a bit of time before he hit me in the head, so if I'd had a dagger, I probably could have gutted him.

We'll have to do it again sometime.
My 10yo daughter says I'm pretty!
