Thanks man! He's a pretty cool character. We met at a local fighter practice while I was in Army telecom school in Agusta, GA. I looked down on his wrist, saw the Ansteorran tat, then showed him the one I have on my shoulder. Turns out he ran with my crowd of friends maaaaaaaaaaany years ago. He had alot of cool tales to tell.

In Atenveldt I'd say the top five non belts (in my opinion):

1. Edward Gostomski
2. Cosimo Orsini
3. Walrick Nightwalker
4. Isabelle d' Avallon
5. Donnegal Buchannon
( Bjorn Husqvartir would be my#6)

Master Roland

I agree with Logan: Sinclair and Marc. But Jonathan Blackbow, I guess He just doesnt show me "best" without Being THICK.

ive not had a problem with jonathans acknowledgment level. i think he takes blows at the upper half but certainly not out of the range of reasonable. he is, however, an irritating fighter. his defense is stout and his power is commendable. he is 6' 29" (or somewhere in the stratosphere) is capable with a few weapons, is quick, and talks way way too much (i hate someone talking to me when we fight) . while all of those things tend to make him a frustrating, irritating, fighter they certainly dont indicate an acknowledgement problem.

perhaps youve had a different, direct, experience in your fights against him. if so, i dont think its the norm. roland is probably in the top 15. i just didnt get to see him that often when i was active. but i bet youre right. he certainly showed some ability and talent when i saw him.

I wouldnt not be surprised in the least if she was belted sometime soon.

Duke Logan:

So far I have heard and seen the fights of Roland, he is as far better than top 15. But to each's own opinion.
Since I don't heavy fight:

And merely watch from the sideline, and sometimes the MOL table. I see and hear from all the fighters about Jonathan. Yeah, the talking "SHIT"
has to be hard, when you are trying to beat his ass. But his Irrirtation is just NOT on the field, It is off the field as well. With his "I-know-it-all" attitude.

Someday, maybe he will change. Since, change begins with the individual.

not sure how one can be better than the top 15 since that would include the number one slot as well. :D

hopefully ill get some video of him soon as i would like to see how hes doing. rolands character both on and off the field is to be applauded.

I think what someone means when they say "he's better than top 15" is that they believe that it's a bit of an underestimation... IE, 11-15 are DEFFINATELY out of his league, he's more like top 10 or top 5. I mean if it's so great to be top 15 and there isn't any BETTER than top 15, then hell, top 50,000 is the same, eh? :D Why, I bet every SCA fighter who frequents this board is in the top 50,000! :D

yeah i got what she meant to say. however, what she did say was that he was better than the top 15. that, clearly, is not what she intended to convey. its no biggie, hence my emoticon smiley face.

speaking of emoticons (i do hate them, but im forced to used them. its like a sick calling) how come we dont have one with a tongue sticking out? i think we need one of those.

I'd take Shay and Helmet off that list and put BdeB near the top but otherwise agree with your assessment. I also see Roland in the top ten of "unbelted fighters" but would rank him higher then some mentioned above due to intangibles. But then that wasn't the question was it. We were talking just fighting skill. Not knightly qualities.

last time i saw helmut he was doing very well. bryce certainly has potential but still has some bad habits that he needs to overcome. his on side attack is not a threat and that, i feel, limits his effectiveness. his off side attack his constant and is a threat. too much repetition in his shots. needs to learn some good fakes and feints. speed is above average offensively, defensively it is average. good field sense and one of the best dressed out there! i would give shay 6 out of 10 against him though. but he should be on the list i just havent seen him fight in a while. the same with roland. i hope to see them both at pennsic so that i can be current with my impressions.
