Anyone else here going?

As Highland River Melees is fast approaching here is the Heavy Fighting Schedule

10 AM Heavy Authorizations start, in a tent if necessary

11 AM Heavy Inspections start

12 noon Triad Tourney starts- This is a bear pit tourney with only one belt per triad. The moment one team loses the next enters. Water breaks if a triad has three successive wins. 1 hrs

2PM Resurrection Field battle with Kings- 1\2 hour field battle with resurrections. Each side has a King who wears a crown. Each side also has a small castle. The castle can be destroyed by siege weapons. If the King is killed he chooses a successor within one minute of his death. With the new King the new King's side gets its castle back. The side that had the least kings wins. No repeats allowed for kings. Combat archery

3PM Siege of Acre- Saladin is at the gates of Acre, just as the city is about to fall Richard the Lionhearted arrives with a small army of heavy infantry and crossbowmen. He desperately holds the gates until a relief army on the way from Tyre arrives. He had 1,000 infantry, 400 crossbowmen and 52 Knights sharing 13 horses. Saladin had much, much more but none as heavily armored as Richard's forces. Our event will have two walls with archery points and a open gate area that must be defended. A force of Crusaders will be in front of the gate. All of the Crusaders will have shields with the exception of three spearmen. The Crusaders do not resurrect. Saladin's men resurrect but have no shields. If the Crusaders hold out for ten minutes all "dead" Crusaders come back as the relief force and resurrection ends. 1/2 hour

3:45 More field battles till no one wants more.

Dang.

Nope, not this year....again.

I haven't been to this event in ages, and buying a house last week doesn't help.

FYI: I'll be at Tournement of Chivalry, Assessment Battles, and Last Chance Authorizations and then Pennsic!

(Edited: You know it's been a long day when I misspell Pennsic! )

I'll be there if my wrist heals. I took my boy Kane down to that workout last night and blocked a sword cut to my head with my saber and ended up spraining my wrist. Damn you fuckers like to swing hard at me!
I fought the rest of the evening but I'm taking a break till this heals.

I can make it for sure now. I am going to try and authorize pollarm in the morning and fight with it all day. I still have a messed up wrist from over a month ago that keeps me from swinging a sword.

Animal and James, I feel your pain. I caught to shots to the back of the hand/wrist fighting a lefty last night and it hurt like hell all night. Seems to be better today tho it sounds like rice crispies!

Funny thing was that I pulled a muscle in my shoulder/neck early on and it wasn't a big deal at the time but it hurts like heck now...

The friday before last I caught a wierd shot from a lefty right on top of my spine...just above where my armor ended....exactly where my brig gorget should've protected me except it was laying off to the side, on the grass, not doing me any good.

That'll learn me.

It really makes my day to see how popular this event is. I was one of the coolaborators on the first one, maybe even autocratted the 3rd or 4th, don't remember now. Last attended in 1996, just before going to CA. But I can give really cool stories from the first 3-4.
Is John Nelson still the curator, please tell him I said hi.
