I recently looked over the foam mace heads that Mandrake sells. They have a authentic profile and approprate size.

They are extreemly light, much lighter then any other mace-type-material I have encounterd.

While these are very light and squishy, they DO hit with authority. They seem to compact a little less at speed then at normal compression. This was tested with His Grace, Duke Tomikii <sp?> at Cha'ang market. I cannot be for certain for the durability of these, but they do seem to be long lasting < YMMV >.

I'm happy to hear that your's hits with authority- I recently bought one second hand through the Archive, but haven't fought with it yet. It's very, very nice, but kinda soft compared to my Mandrake axe, which is rubber, not foam. I'm in the land of clacker maces here, and I was thinking "nobody's gonna take this".

How did you mount yours? Mine is just friction-fit to a piece of rattan right now, seems like it's on there pretty good, but I can just imagine it flying across the field:) I read somewhere they're using dishsoap to slip them on; it acts as a lubricant when wet, and an adhesive once dry.

I looked over them and gave them a test run with His Grace, Duke Tomuki. I didn't actually purchase one myself. I do admit, you can't hit like a pillow and expect people to take them. Not like the heavier mace heads that require 3" of movement to gain the nessesary momentum. But then did seem fine to me.

As far as mounting, this particular mace head was mounted, on what looked like, 2" rattan shaved to an octagon. The head was friction fitted on also.
