What is a good source for a SCA combat crossbow for around $200? Or is this to little money for a decent bow.
We are trying to outfit a household member to give a decent impression of a 14th century crossbowmen in SCA combat, but no one in my group has much experience with this type of weapon. We want something reliable, and is ready to go “out of the boxâ€Â

Master James Cunningham is a laurel on archery. His crossbow craftsmanship is very good, and I am sure he can assist. Here is the link to contact his seneschal, so it can be promptly communicated for Master James to contact you. Jim lives in Urbana, OHIO. Please tell them I referred, as we are good friends.

Some combat crossbows are designed to launch thin-shafted arrows. Others are designed for "large bore" arrows, including golftube arrows, siloflex arrows, and fellwalkers. A crossbow designed to shoot any of these last three will work for you.
