Nissan, you and I know each other from days of old, when the world was young and so were we.
I hear the words of your brash challenge and, for all that you are a sell-sword, I know their worth. Indeed, I wonder if you know their impact, for I have heard them echoing in deep places and there are those whose slumber you disturb at great peril.
Even old lions are still dangerous.
Challenge offered shall be answered. But understand - You have Challenged the Divine Right of Kings and such a gauntlet will be taken up by a Host the likes of which you have never seen.
Evil shall be smitten by the Right Hand of God and you shall be cast down into the pit.

I will stand with my King, my barony, and my conroi. I shall stand
with my son and my squire.
But I will gaze with sadness at the doomed faces of my many friends
among the Tuchux, Clovenshield and Meduseld. I will regret every
thrust of my spear into their flesh. I will weep over their lifeless bodies.
I will weep as the crows have their feast. (but I will try to get Nissan's
cool new helmet as a trophy!)

Diomedes, you know you want to. All the cool kids are doing it.
Oh man I can't wait for this battle now.
Sir Graedwyn, as I know mercy can be a chivalrous virtue, still good Sir, I would not have you waste your tears of mercy 'pon this unverified horde. Rather, let the crows cull carrion from their corpses and let us burn their bones in a bonfire as a warning to those who raise their hands against their rightful Liege-lords.
And then let's all go drink beer afterwards. I pledge two cases of guinness to an after party.
edited to add - this also I pledge - a beer for each hand of my friend Saiaiko if she kills a Tuchux in honorable battle while voicing her Patented Battle Cry.

It's not my personal thing but the pictures from that battle of the thirty where they look so goddam real its amazing just floor me everytime.
I can pretty much guarantee that everyone from Yama Kaminari will be using only weapons appropriate to their persona; me, I'll be out there with naginata (maybe yari on the bridges) with katana and tanto back-ups.

Sebastian,
Its a 10 hour drive for me too. But you can't beat the site.
Gavin,
Did I disturb your nap? It would be great to see ( and mercilessly crush) you and the rest of the antiques roadshow.
And thank you to all who have complimented me on my new helmet by planning to strip it off my corpse as a trophy. It was made by Mykaru from this archive.

Brother samurai who defend the Chrysanthemum Throne and loyal warriors from Western lands!
Do not worry for the safety of your women, for as filial chattel they will leap upon the oozing wounded of our enemy with dirk and aikuchi in hand. Overflowing will be the purses and satchels of your womenfolk with the bejeweled fingers of the disgraced who clutched their vanity even in death. Look among your women to see your wives and daughters, but do not seek the sight of me!
I am Minamoto no Taikawa Saiaiko, the Heian Bitch, who is born of a burning house like the fiery offspring of Sengen! I fear no mercenary or their allied hill-dwellers, for I am already dead and sister to the Hisa-me! I will honor the buddhas and gods with the heads of my enemies and place their disheveled countenances at the feet of my liege.
Do not fear death, mercenaries and ronin. You will know me by the piercing screams of unmitigated bloodlust! With Kannon's mercy, I will deliver sweet release from the aimless wandering that tortures your unbound souls.

Entirely well said, Sir Graedwyn, but I already have dibs on the new helmet - it is supposed to become a planter for kitchen herbs...though it is a fine fine helmet...(and he a fine warrior)

Not likely. We do not take the field for that battle. I usually give the boys that one off. Perhaps you are thinking of any of the last few Kingdom Crusades.....
In any case, we will be there to see what is what in May....

Whooee - no Sir! I get a totally different feeling when I think about the last few Kingdom Crusades, having fought for Atlantia.
Indeed goodly Sir Duke. And I wish you and yours nothing less than health, wealth and happiness in all endeavors, including this one.

Safe journey to all of you. Let this day live in our memories as the day giants and heros walked the land in search of honor and glory.

I am seriously considering attending this even. It will require a great deal of planning as my current duties keep me on a very very short leash.
If I am able to attend, in this matter I will stand with the Emperor -- steadfast -- against this band of raiders who cross the Rubicon and threaten the lands of the great Crown of Aethelmearc.
Let the people of these lands know that before any harm should come to them or theirs, it will be only after I, and every other servant to a Noble Crown, have been slain and lay still upon the field -- an event I see as unlikely, for we have not only might -- but right on our side.

Animal, as for your hospitality...
I graciously accept!
Whenever I have fought with the Nation of the Tuchx, I knew my flank was well guarded. Whenever I have fought against them, I knew I was guaranteed a tough fight. I hope to be able to share company at your fire.

Thank you and God save you, goodly Sir.
It is for you and everyone like you that I bother to document my adventures at all. It is a tiresome, vexing task.
You will be pleased to note that I am already booked for 4 pro tournaments in 2006, including the new KENTUCKY RenFaire (in June I think).
Should God will it that you should attend, I wish to extend to you my humble hospitality at this affair, including introductions and a backstage tour.
PS: Our training facility is outside of Nashville, TN on the Kentucky border, should you deisre to cross lances with worthy individuals. Training camps are offered this year in March and June. I am in the process of updating the Troupe website with dates and details (

Should any other Kingdom's Unbelted Champions wish to fight by our side, then you are welcome as well.
(We shall repeat what was done unto the Tuchux this past Pennsic during the Mountain pass battle, since appearantly they didn't get the hint last time.

or they have the desire for some payback...
This is the type of stuff, which makes an event fun! I expect 15-30 Unbelts to attend)

Having said that I'm hoping this battle is such a fun event it gets carried over to next Pennsic...
Still this is Nissan's show and I understand his reason for doing this at AWP. It really sucks that I can't make it there

As the storm gathers old men dreaming of their younger days feel the blood pumping in their veins. Thoughts of pasts glory and deeds propel them onward as they don armor unworn and unused for great lengths of time. Dreams of King and Country and what they meant to them swell inside them. They gather their sons and march off to war.
Once there they find themselves at a loss for the foe arrayed before them is strong, unyeilding. They look left and right and wonder who will be the 1st to run from fray. They look to the king and his knights and see them trembling at the might of the enemy. They hear the whispers of the nobility plotting ways that they can ransom themselves back if they lose. These same old men and their sons realize that the crown holds them in no esteem they are just pieces on a board to be used and thrown away. Usefull as long as they put food on their tables and gold in their pouches.
Looking upon the foe you see men who have bleed not for a distant king that is never seen or heard except when they want something but warriors that bleed and die for eachother as well as the gold in their pockets.
As he watches the kings banners fall one by one he wonders why he is here. Then suddenly a demon in red appears before him and all goes black....

D Sebastian, ive made it from Coopers to my couch with a beer in hand in just over 9 hrs, although some might think i was driving like an asshole
It certainly sounds like a great time, but knowing im attending Pennsic this year means i would likely not be able to make the trip twice, ive just got so much to do, Now if we could get enough people together where we could afford to drive in style, my last trip that direction was when i bought my boat, just about 1.5 hours east of coopers, my back haunted me for days, it would be likely that once i got there i would not be able to fight, now if i could get my fat ass lying down in Sir Artorius Thule case on the top of the car i might be in good enough shape to play.
