You have a dog in this fight if I say that you do.

Can dogs go to War Practice? If they could that would significantly increase my chances of going.

Several Atlantians here and elsewhere have asked if they may fight with me at AWP. All who are not sworn to serve elsewhere are welcome. I will, of course, fight under the command of Atlantia's warlord, Count Valharic.

Good Sir Vitus,
I would wish to stand beside you against this foe as a noble brother of the Great House Stahlgiest, but alas, I have commitments elsewhere. Should I chance to meet this vile raider on the field at Blackstone Raid I will, however, give him your regards and have "a dog in the fight", as it were.

"Well...actually...we already did that. I think it was 2002 at Pennsic in the Friendship battle. The Bloodguard and friends stood together against the Tuchux and Anglesey and our friends. You lost. "
Not likely. We do not take the field for that battle. I usually give the boys that one off. Perhaps you are thinking of any of the last few Kingdom Crusades.....
In any case, we will be there to see what is what in May....

I do not think it wise to poke the noble Duke with sticks my misguided merc foe.... for Bloodguard is known across the World for its Prowess and Ferocity upon the field of valor.
To focus such ferocity upon ones self as you may have just done may be a painful lesson to learn.

I will not be able to make it, due to family obligations. But, I was wondering, what type of battle is it to be?

Aethelmark war practice is as the name implies, a practice. There are about a dozen full on scraps, some field, some bridge, some res, some combat archery.
Pretty much all the fighting that anyone can stand. Thats one of the reasons I love this event. it is lake a trip back in time to Pennsic 15 or so.
If I recall correctly last year it worked out to be the chux and atlantia and the bloodgaurd and the middle against the East and clovenshield and Aethelmark and confed. Black won. pictures can be seen at:

I don't think so, not any more, unless there's coursing and they're there for that. I haven't autocratted it in 3 years, so the rules may have changed; check

I pledge that I will journey to the fair Kingdom of Aethelmearc, there to stand beside all good men in defense of their natural Lord, and in support of my Prince, if He will have me. I will be but the lowest of men-at-arms amid such august company, men of dread prowess and great renown, but it is better by far to be the lowest of such men than it is to be the highest among such base-born wretches as those who would sell their sacred Honor for mere coin and trinkets.
Thus do I, Michael de Buslingthorpe, vow.

Hey! That was the (admittedly derogatory, and quite possibly deserved) nickname you guys gave *me* years ago (I think Random or Grettir told me, much after the fact). I guess you could have it now, though

I will hired Clovenshield for the day if they are avaible for sale. Instead of fighting, they will have to help the event staff do clean up, and help water bear.

Aw Bryce, I am sooo sorry, but it seems we have a previous commitment on that day... However, the Clovenshield Combat Cocktail Waitresses will as always be on hand to provide frosty beverages to those in need.

What I am hoping for is that Nissan will now have to pay a group of mercs himself, since he is now a Captain of Condottiere.

I wonder how many knights are gonna array themselves in their finest historical armor for this. I also wonder if they're gonna fight with traditional 'knightly' weapons.
It's not my personal thing but the pictures from that battle of the thirty where they look so goddam real its amazing just floor me everytime.

Oh I'll be paying. Mostly in grief. Mercenaries can be such assholes. You have no idea.
However, for the most part my side is coming for free to have a chance to hit your side.
I, like Animal, hope everyone dresses to kill.

One of the cool things about fighting ignoble persona's such as the 'savages' listed, is that there is absolutely no medieval historical European prohibition against a knight shooting one of them with a bow or crossbow. Though frankly most of us would probably still stick to our traditional knightly weapons. Now if only I could sneak a horse in...

Ok, Center-boss round it is and sword. I will try to be as close to what my persona would wear without being unsafe as I can get, or I will not fight.
