Here is a cool set of yummy maul goodness images, Myself and Thaddeus in the final bout of our baronial championship.
Had a blast in this bout, you should see the dagger fight pics This is the largest Kong they make, care should be used with it.

I like the way it "handles" a great deal, i have seen this size kong on a single handed mace. way to big imho, my single handed mace uses the second smallest kong, the kong its self is less than 8 oz, half the allowed weight, and it hits with authority.
The above pictured maul is very fun, i spent a great deal of time tapering the handle, its comfy to hold. It does hit like a ton o bricks, only needing 6 or so inches of travel to strike with great power.
I'm so "in". I've been toying with the idea of making a @48-54in maul and now I'm sold. I think that might be a bit long but not too much so, and it'll keep it in line with my short two handed sword and axe.
edit to add:
The action pics are great, how on earth did you recover from the elbow hook in the 2nd shot?

WATONGO!
Ceddie, mine is 49 inches, the exact distance from the bottom of my knee cop to the top of my helmet when in gaurd.
As for the recovery, i pulled my left hand down, this put my right about 12/14 inches below the buisness end, then just rotated my hips to the right while holding the weapon almost straight up and down, striking Thaddeus in the head backhand, once i was at full rotation to the right i pulled my left hand into my gut and pushed my right straight out for a punching strike.
I dont believe the second blow was needed, but Thaddeus had not called good yet, so i followed up with the second. Im not sure if he was dazed, or perhapse determining if it was good or not as his helmet is a massive 12 ga top and his maile shirt has an attatched coif, i would think it behaves differently than his bascinet. He would have better input in that regard.
The weapon form is a great deal of fun, especially if you are a strong rugged type who likes to go toe to toe.
That looks like a hoot!
I really enjoy playing with folks who understand that it's ok to make contact with your opponent and just because you are bumping into each other (with elbows and shoulders and such) you aren’t grappling. There is a brutal grace that is evident in your pictures and can be lacking in our game. It is refreshing to see folks embracing it, not just the two of you but look at the smiles on the faces of the spectators. Those people are happy to watch you doing something you love and they won’t soon forget the heart and soul you put into those fights.
It is also refreshing to see men who take pride in their appearance. It is obvious that the two of you took a long time to get your look “rightâ€Â

[quote="Roibeard MacNeill"]Master Lucius,
That is a beautiful mace! Do you like the way the large Kong handles? It looks like it would hit like a ton of bricks!

Amen to that.
The dagger fight was a heap load of fun. We were both running through our list of what fiore can I do without actually causing permanent damage to each other. The first one who figured out there really wasnt any and just started stabbing won, that would be Adam.
I was stunned by the first hit and knocked down by the second.
"When a land rejects her legends, Sees but falsehoods in the past;
And its people view their Sires in the light of fools and liars,
'Tis a sign of its decline and its glories cannot last."
Awesome kits, awesome weapons, thank you Adam for posting these.
Ceddie, I LOVE to go toe to toe and wish more people understood the difference between grappling, which I understand as grabbing your opponent and wrasslin', and contact, like you said, bumping into each other. With a little extra power.
I beleive I now know what to make out of that 45 inch piece of rattan I have laying about.
Thanks guys.

I rather like what you've done with your knees, the little dags look good. Do you wear cuisses or did you attach the dags to the cop itself, if so how did you make the attachment?

Hi Audax,
The legs are tubes of leather with a cut out behind the knee to allow some movement. They have a piece of abs heat molded and riveted inside to protect the thigh. The Knee cop is riveted outside and the decorative bits are cut with a belt tip form and hide the difference between the bottom of the knee and the top of my greaves.
There are a couple of things I will do differently next time. Chief amongst them is to make a strap to hold the knee closer to the leg and I will use a more flexible material for the body of the leg itself so I dont have to cut away behind the knee. The 5 oz oil tan bunched when I was kneeling and I did one of those battlefield armor-ectomy's that work but arent all that aesthetic.
