If you were looking for a pilum (or more than one)

What criteria would trip your trigger?

What dimensions would you look for? Length, width of head, diameter of shaft, etc.

Would you prefer mild steel, mid-carbon or high-carbon?

What sort of socket would you like?

This should have all the info you want. A real pilum should have a hardened tip but the iron of the rest of the weapon is left soft so that it bends on impact. We don't want these bad boys flying back at us. After the battle they are easily repaired.

My re-cre pilum are as above, my target/practice pilums are the cheapy chuckers listed on the Legio XX websight.

AWESOME! Just what I was looking for.

Was out in the garage the other day helping a friend with a project, and one of the interim steps looked like a pilum.

Thought I might give it a go.
