Greetings,

I am researching the topic of mounted archery, in particular the German tactic of employing mounted Xbow archers. Think of the first time in history the use of a “ride byâ€

The burgundians employed mounted Xbowmen as well.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

So far as I know, you'd be nigh-unique working on this: there are FAR fewer people doing good work with crossbows than with bows.

For a general discussion of horse-archery, which may help you with practical matters, I suggest looking up ATARN.net, and floating the question in the general forums -- though it is relatively unlikely, the Chinese made enough use of crossbowmen that there may have been some mounted use. The other usage of which I'm aware is among the Arabs, though I know of know specific training en masse, as the organized training on that front via the Kipcaq/Mamlukes was very much the handbow.
