No Kingdom Crusades in 2008?

I was just looking at the "Acorn" and Kingdom Crusades is not mentioned there at all. I kinda knew that they were moving the site, but I thought that the event would take place nevertheless.
Does anyone in Atlantia or the East have any knowledge of what is being planned?
Thanks!!

All I know is last year's was the last for that site. I had heard rumor of moving it to Pa but that's all it is. Rumor nothing more.
I hope it goes again this year. I've been to the last two and had a good time.

With declining attendance, a very costly site and unresponsive site owners it was decided last Pennsic that the site would be moved.
The Kingdom Crusades event planners are trying to locate a better sight. I expect that they will locate one and post the event later in the year. But the plan is to hold Kingdom Crusades.

Ya. Folks are still working on this. The thought of having it in Delaware on the 13/1 corrider was mentioned. I hope this is the case as it will help our Atlantian brothers avoid the DC traffic. It still does nothing for the folks in the East who have to brave NYC but you can't have it all...
The sites are VERY inexpensive and beautiful down there as well.

If it's in Delware, this Atlantian would have to go thru DC, and possibly Baltimore.
Northern Virgina outside of the DC metro would be cool. hehe

How many people does it typically attract?

Last year and the year before there were under 200 fighters maybe around 50/60 fencers and then various other folks. If it broke over 500 either year I'd be impressed.

Would it work at the Homestead?
I realize that is technically just about the Aethelmarc/East border, and might be way too far north for some, but it _is_ a good, and amenable site.

Would it work. Yes but not real feasible for it due to it being an East/Atlantian deal. Were it me I'd seriously consider somewhere along the I81 or I83 corridors just south of Harriburg. A lot of Atlantians could hop 81 and get here within a few hours avoiding all the DC area hassles. Easterners could hop 81 from damn near all points north and make reasonable time as well. But I"m in Aethelmearc and will get there by the fastest route available depending.
It's really about what would be best logistically for Atlantia and the East. Eisenthal is just a little too Eastern Centric to my thinking....

I am not sure where you live but I can get to Delaware via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge from VA. This is a nice 6 lane highway that has no tolls and rarely see much traffic. You can access this just south of DC from VA.
Check it out.

Well, the I-81/I-76/US-15 area of Harrisburg/Carlisle, etc. happens to be very convenient from all points in the East and Atlantia.
One can get to South Central PA from almost anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. Those hailing from areas around Concordia of the Snows can get there in 5-6 hours, Ostgardr in 4-5 and the Northern sections of Atlantia in anywhere from an hour to two hours.
Also, the Shire of Blak Rose, Montvale, and Owlherst all share borders with the Kingdom of Atlantia.
An added bonus is that area is only 3-5 hours from most of Aethelmarc.
Perhaps that is a selling point for hosting a little further west than NJ/DE: it could possibly pull from three Kingdoms instead of two.

If I were considering a location, I would probably ask the farthest Northern and the farthest Southern parts of each Kingdom, which area would be best travelled to and then try and do a site search in those areas.
Maybe it would be a good idea that two sites be located; one in East and one in Atlantia and the sites rotate year to year?

What Homestead are you referring to?
Surely not the one in Hot Springs?

Thats what I was thinking as well. The smell would drive most of them away before they got to site...reminds me I need to go skiiing...
Last year was my first Kingdom Crusades, I enjoyed it. I look forward to it this year as well.

A gorgeous site in PA, home of the Eisental events Landsknecht (whatever) for the last 8 years, and Southern Region War Practice for the East Kingdom.
It has TONS of camping space, two bars, a hall, and a swimming pool.
and a motel, though that is small and fills up fast.
But I think Angus is right.. it's too far away. It would be _GREAT_ for an Aethemarc/East skirmish event though, as it's very nearly on the Aethelmarc border.

Ok, the Harrisburg/Carlysle area would make this person happy, if it was in that area.
I have to travel to Harrisburg for work off and on, so know that drive well, and I could probably get a few AEthelmearc folks, who dont already go, to show up also. For the Pittsburgh folks, thats only like a 3 and a half hour drive.
Which is about same drive for them if they went to Buffalo or to Blackstone Raids.
Granted, not my war, just wishful thinking.

Well that and that our Crown wouldnt be opposite it most times.
Maybe I will have to try and do something about that this year.
