Og, any chance of a close-up on your shield? That's precisely what I intend to make before very long.

No I feel a crusader should be in maile for a more accurate portrayal.

Thank you.
I thought that is what I was getting at also.

I don't think I cherry-picked anything.

If fact, I've been scratching my head why you and I are going round-and-round on this as I KNOW we agree whole-heatedly on research.

D.

I gave several references for the research of what was happening in the Levant in terms of arms and armours and the cultural interchange. Like Magnus, I don't have time to track down every reference to armour being taken fromt he dead and worn by the living. There are more than a few references to men replacing lost, abandoned or damaged armour via capture or purchase in the Levant. What sources would they have had besides Byzantine or Moslem sources, during the First Crusade? There was no supply line back to Europe to buy good Christian armour.

Quote me where I say lamellar and a kettle would be common for a Scot on Crusade. I don't think I said anything of the sort. It is a credible possibility. Lists of armours refer to khazagands and jazeraints in the effects of dead Europeans. Read the Nicolle books.

I am as mad for research as you or Magnus and I'm a bit hurt that you might suggest otherwise. I thought I had demonstrated my honesty as a scholar and that this might garner some respect.

In puzzlement,

audax
