I have a ? about one of the swords in Carlo's Churburg book.
I think it is S272(I'm not sure what page it is on)? The description says that the pommel is 'stippled'. There are a couple areas where it looks like it might have been hit with a punch a few times, but for the most part, it looks like the design was etched. I looked at a bit of brass I'd etched a number of years ago, and the 'signature' was almost identical. I'd used a fairly weak concentration of acid, and had not removed the bubbles as they formed.
Does anyone else have an opinion?
