Did sword-and-buckler pell work today

Hi,

I did sword-and-buckler (sort of) pell work today in the gym. After doing 100 kicks and punches to the bag, I saw that there was a piece of foam about the right length as a sword but of much bigger girth. So I did combinations of shots against the pell, always focusing on the â€œshort stemâ€

What did you do with your other hand?

I always have problems with what the hell I'm doing with my shield hand when hitting a pell... blocking imaginary shots? Keeping it steady?

I imagine it would be worse when practicing sword and buckler hitting a pell.

I attempted punch blocking with it against invisible swords.
