I'm going to be re-tooling a katzbalger I made a few months ago to get it ready for the war season. The parts I purchased from Sir Stefhan (phenomenal, By the way)...I planed down a 2.25 inch wide piece of rattan so that it has an oval cross-section and the requisite 1.25 inch minimum width. I want this to be as good looking and as functional as humanly possible and I would hate to put a standard style thrusting tip on it as it would completely kill the look.
I've made low profile thrusting tips like this for a few of my friends and the construction works very well but this is the first time I am going to make one with such a profile. I have attached a quick drawing of what I want to do with the thrusting tip design and I was wondering if anyone had any insights on potential issues that may arise. Anyone see a problem with it passing inspection?
Thank you all in advance...

Looks good, but why the knob in the center? Would it not be easier to just cut the rattan flat across the top and make a 1/2 moon shapped thrusty to sit on it?

Well the knob may keep the tip from shifting but that could be handled with a little spray glue or contact cement.
The knob may also make the compresion more even depending on if the the tip isn't 100% perpendicular to the target.
Either might be replaced with a shallow ^ shape that would be easier to cut and sand.
Honestly I like it. I'm debating building some very thick swords to go with my kolben for my Rene suit (progress is SO SLOW!) but the Rene swords do not have tips. Would have been a nice idea.

Sean beat me to it!
The socket in the centre is so that the thrusting tip will have something to compress against when making a cutting blow...for me, at least, this slight alteration in the design has worked out much better than a flat-to-flat thrusting tip taped all to hell. It does tend to reduce ripping the tip clean off considerably.
I tried gluing such a tip and it just doesn't work as well by itself...gluing and a socket work well.
