Going to build a pell with a tire/concrete base. What should I put in the base of the tire to hold the concrete inside?

The one I saw I an oversized circular sheet of ply-wood that had to be shoved into the tire first. It was then screwed to the bottom of a plastic bucket which was around the post. Both the bucket and the tire were filled with cement...

There is a good chance that the post had been set in the bucket first and it was too wobly so that the tire was added second. I see no reason why you couldn't skip the bucket and just do tire, plywood and log... unless you REALLY needed the extra weight from the cement in the taller bucket.

Good luck,
Sean

The one I have doesn't have a base for the tire. I just set it on some relatively flat dirt and used an R15 tire (maybe 14). The concrete I used set up pretty quickly, was mixed fairly thick and I made sure to get some in the rim of the tire. It picked some random bits of dirt, but it's been fine.

Now, setting the metal frame in the concrete, and keeping it straight while preventing it from sinking through the concrete....that was slightly more tricky. :D
