There is always room next to the Middle Marches as their Excellencies both fight during Blackstone and if your Nalbending my lady and the rest of our woolmongers will be spinning, doing sprong and nalbending most of the day.
Has anyone heard beyond just the usual rumbling just how many crowns will be in attendance? I am hearing at least 4.

I'll be there. quite a few of my friends from SouthernAtlantia (Matthew of Battle, etc) will be there, so I have to pay a visit.

We are looking to bring forth a reasonably significant force from Northern Atlantia in support of King Logan, and are currently planning on caravanning out with about 16 (or more) fighters from Ponte Alto (and I believe that House BlackSpear is also looking to field a goodly-sized number of fighters).
Unfortunately, my currently scheduled flight back to DC from Chicago (I'm on the planning committee of the annual SCIP conference) does not arrive until nearly midnight on Friday, so with the drive from DC to WV, I may not arrive onsite until about 6am on Saturday -- but I'll be there with our troops (though I cannot guarantee a bright and cheerful disposition).
See you all on the field!

It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful. Friday thru Sunday is suppose to be 80 degrees with Sunny Skies.
I'm going to try and bring a small shelter and a few modern camp chairs to rest out of the sun.
Please stop by and say "Hello !" I've been out of the Society for a long time and I'd love to see old friends and meet new ones'
I should have my 6' Silk banner by Isabella at my shelter (see my device to the right), and on the field I'll be a 6'2" 230 guy in red linen under a stainless bascinet, and most of a basic set of stainlees (satin finish) plate, including a two piece 15th century German style breast and back. (Best description I can give, No pictures as its an entirely new suit)
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Probably need a little more description than that, Ilsebet. I think there is a guy in Pentamere taller than me, but he doesn't fight.
And people always laugh at my shield as a war door until I pick it up ("Bwah! Whose War-door is that?!?!?!" "Mine." "Oooh. Buckler. Mutant.")

I don't know if there's a picture of Laurenz online in his current kit. He's about 6' 2" or so, not a skinny-mini (although I don't even have a guess at his weight), and tends to wear angel-wing overtunics when fighting - either black with silver/grey trim, or white with the red pale. His buckler is white, with black ermine spots, and a blue 5-pointed star in the middle. His helm is a bascinet with black leather, gold-tone vervailles, and an aventail. If he's fighting with his tourney shield, it's painted with his device that is black, with 3 white goats, and a stair-steppy chevron with ermine spots. His war door is just plain white right now, I think.
I know I'll be able to spot *you* Malcolm - maybe I should just introduce the two of you?

I hope everyone has a good time too. Our attendance is uncertain at this point. My MIL was admitted to the ICU this morning, and they don't know what's wrong yet, AND have requested her oldest daughter come into town from Toronto this weekend. So, I won't know until Friday afternoon if we can come or not

If they find out what's wrong, and she's in no immediate danger, we'll try to find someone to take care of the dogs and come on down, but I have no way to tell right now what will happen.
So for those who WILL be there - have fun for us!!!

the family and I will be there along with a number of the household.
Love Blackstone, it's our favorite event and we missed it last year because of the adoption stuff going on so looking forward to a return this year. Going Friday, should be there around dinner time. I'm pretty easy to spot on the field - 6'4" 250 lbs with a quartered blue & black surcoat with a white eagle on it, the top is white with two black crescent moons and I wear on of White Mountain Armouries closed face norman helms, say hi.

I had a great time. I got my prelim auth. I met people who are amazing, I got drunk with people who loved the blueberry Mead I made.
The most important part of blackstone was i was reminded that true good-ole boy scadians look out for each other. I had borrowed a helm from one of my shire mates that fit me to a t until our marshal looked at it and said it wouldnt pass because of the new padding rules. I repaded the helm and i put it on only to find that my nose stuck out. I had been talking all day with a gent who had been giving me tips on how to make sure I passed my s & b auth in the morning he got wind of it and pulled a helm from his households stash and let me borrow it for the day.
I had never met this gent before in my life. He in no way had to do this but had he not i would not have authed I would not have had the experience of taking a face shot so hard I felt it in my toes, I would not have had the best event of my life.

It was a beautiful day, wonderful fighting.... right up until that second when a large body fell on me in the first Bridge battle, and I blew my knee out.
Two probable torn knee ligaments according to the emergency room, but I won't know for sure until I see the ortho doc in a week when the swelling goes down.
My thanks to everyone who helped me off the field and took care of me. It was much appreciated ! I'm sure it was not fun carrying my large carcass in 3/4 plate off the field on a shield.
Thanks again guys and gals !

I got tackled in the last field battle. Seriously, someone decided the right way to deal with me was to full out tackle me. Nice open field tackle.
He got mashed by my goons, and I got up, because I didn't actually get hit with a stick. I wonder what he was thinking?

Yay! It's such a fun event.
Blackstone was the event that spawned the laughing gnome story (ask Lubeck)
Another year Lubeck and I killed three spearmen after we'd both lost our sword arms. He got an archer to yield when he'd lost his sword too. Yelling and looking angry can be effective all by itself!

As always Blackstone Rocked!
Hated the heat but was quit honored that Our Queen asked me to fight with her guards as part of Their unit, of course it put a huge escarbuncle target in the middle of my already oversized chest, but wouldn't trade it for anything!
Haven't really fought melees since Pennsic 07 because of traveling for the adoption last year so felt good to grab the polearm and get back in the grind.
Egg gauntlets suck, last field (aka last fight of the day) got my thumb crushed by an Atlatian Knight blocking his wrap - so I managed to take it in the tip of the thumb and by the time I could muster and obscenity I get clubbed by the group of guys following him.
It was good to talk to James B sitting on haybails between battles.
