Need suggestions for doing this right

Post by Angusm0628 »

Okay, so now that I've been ruined, I need specs on certain things. I read a translation of King Rene's tournament book but it was lacking certain information I need to make my O.C.D. go away..

Barrier- What was the length typically used. I'm going to guess about 4 foot high but how long 6' 7'??

Also I could use recommendations for

Broadsword length- I'm thinking about 4' or so to ease the draw in judicial style combat.

Short lance is gonna be an even 6'

Plans are already under way for matched revival polehammers (6')

Daggers I'm thinking a 13" blade (shorter/longer)

My end goal is to get the weapons ready for use and then work on the larger items, gallery canopy, chairs a small table (ambitious lil bastage ain't I?).

Any suggestions would be most welcome

Barrier: mine are 6' across
Broadswords are just over 4'
My Rondel daggers are I think are a little longer than that.
As far as the gallery, the instructions can be found at he St. Michaels website:

Um . . . what mean you by 'ruined'?

Barriers in 15th century tournaments are the fence around the list.

Fighting across the barrier in a tournament setting doesn't enter into use until I believe the 1490s
