Pennsic Pavilion Sob Story

Okay, long and short. I had a barter deal worked out for a new 10X15 roof for my pavilion. It was supposed to be done in time for Pennsic. The deal has just fallen through. I was not going to use the pavilion for "camping" since I have a 12 foot trailer for sleeping in, but the trailer really is just for sleeping in. The pavilion was going to be set up as the place to do all the other camping things, like cooking, bathing, arming up in my personal gear to go out fighting, and so on. I do not have a sunshade either as I foolishly sold mine before my move back east from California.

So, long shot. Anyone else able and or willing to work out a barter deal for a pavilion roof of those dimensions? I do not need walls as the walls of my old pavilion are still completely functional.

Worst comes to worst I live close enough to Pennsic to run home every couple of days if I have to. I would rather not.

If you can just get a decently sized chunk of canvas, you can run a sun-shade off the trailer itself, no?

That's what my friend did with the tudor house.

2x4 with nails screwed to the wall, and a couple of poles along the opposite edge.

If I had the money to buy the canvas. Which I don't. Plus the trailer is a fiber glass shell so no way to attach anything to it without compromising the shell integrity. It would have to be a free standing sunshade. As always I will have money AFTER Pennsic, but in the run up to it I am broke. I have spent all I have on materials to make inventory.

Harbor Freight, 11x17 18oz. Canvas tarp. $60

2x4 ridge and 2x2 uprights and you are good to go.

I know, that money is an issue but for roughly $100 you can have a decent sized free standing shade fly.

What kind of cost is involved for the canvas that you need?

Thing is I am not looking for something as a stop gap measure just for this event. I do appreciate the info and the thought though. If I can't work something out for this year I will tough it through and work on more permanent solutions after. Most likely I will be ordering a Dragonwing Sunshade after Pennsic, and work on getting the new roof made.

Buying canvas and doing myself is not an option. I do not have the right type of sewing machine for this, nor do I have time to make it myself. All my energy right now has to be on getting orders completed and inventory made. And time I spend making a roof or sunshade is time lost on getting folks armor done. That was why I worked out a barter deal in the first place.
I would rather pay someone, or barter with someone, who knows what they are doing and has the proper equipment. My last pavilion lasted 15 years. I want another that will hold up as well.

In answer to the cost though. Essentially I can get a Dragonwing sunshade, or a new roof done for about $350 to $400

ok, first the good news. I took the canvas outside and unfolded it. More than big enough. And it already has grommets in it.It is dark green but there is a bit of discoloration where it lightened up. still interested?

I appreciate the offer, but I think at this point I am just going to wait until after Pennsic. Hold my breath and pray that my old pavilion roof will hold up for one more event. After Pennsic I will be looking again at either a barter situation for something new, or buying a new roof outright.

Hey. I will have an extra sun shade with me in my SCA trailer. I'll be at Barony of Fenix camp.

if things go south on your tent you can stop by and I'll make sure you get something over your head.
