16th c replica Knife auction -SOLD

Post by Cian of Storvik »

First, let me applogize for the poor quality of the photos. It's a camera phone.
Up for sale is a knife from Get Dressed for Battle with (2) scabbards. New. Never used. I actually bought 2 of these, and I've decided I'd gone a bit crazy buying sharp objects the past month and decided to keep 4 diverse styles of knife, and am eliminating the doppleganger of the other knife I bought (this one actually has a better looking handle, but I already started modifying the other one).
It's not a bad looking knife, but I didn't care for the sheath it included so I made another one for it. This one comes with both the original sheath (in english tan) as well as the one I made for it (in black).
The sheath I made is 5-7 oz. vegetable tanned leather, with a back seam that has been saddle stitched using imitation sinew. The body has not tooled but it's been dyed with several coats (4 or 5) Fiebings black dye and top coated with leather balm and polished to a brilliant shine. A matching black deerskin lace strap finishes the suspension, which you can hang from any sized belt.
I obviously made this scabbard for this specific knife so it fits it perfectly as one only should. I can invert the scabbard and shake it somewhat vigorously and the knife does not succumb to gravity, and yet, grabbing the handle and pressing gently downward on the edge of the sheath with your thumb, releases the knife effortlessly.

The knife has a natural black horn handle, and is decoratively wire-wrapped in brass and copper wire. Overall, it's 10.25" with a 5.5" blade. And supposedly is a replica of an actual knife and sheath dated to the 1500's. The blade is NOT SHARP. It will require sharpening to be usable (This is how they came). Kidney pouch in one of the photos is not included (if you want one like it, talk to Willy Trambone).

Normally this knife with it's crappy original sheath is $40 (current U.S. conversion) + shipping (excluding vat.) with the original scabbard. But you can have this for a starting bid of $20 (if no one else bids) + shipping!
Bidding ends when I feel people have lost interest or alternatively if someone insanely offers me what I actually paid for this and adds shipping. I can do paypal and money orders. Buyer pays actual shipping cost.
