SCA legal Kabuto style fencing helm

based on the Japanese Kabuto style helm.

It is constructed using 2 layers of 4oz (1/8â€

not bad,
looks alot like the helmets a friend and i made some 20 odd yers ago.
the fukigaeshi (sp?) should be the top shikoro on the helm just extended and folded back.
instead of a seperate piece riveted on.
it also looks like they set a little high.
and maybe its just the angle of the picture but the shikoroshould come down a bit lower in back as well.
how much reserarch have you done on japanese lacing patterns?
i a nice kebiki style woul dgo along way to making that a beautifil helm.
other than that i think it is a decent interpretation.

This was a commissioned piece base on several google images.
I sketched a design based on those. The person that commissioned the piece approved those sketches.
I'm afraid the only research I did was an hr. or two with google.
I found images showing the fukigaeshi attached at different points, but upon further research, as you said, they should have been part of the shikoro.
In retrospect, I think I should have constructed the shikoro differently. The bottom lame should hang lower and fan out more.
