A Revival Review...

Revival Clothing.
I usually don't order much through them, but this was a special circumstance.
I was passed along a credit from my mother, and decided to purchase a Lancelot du Lac Cotehardie (http://www.revivalclothing.com/14th-15t ... die-1.aspx) and some tippets.
I received them yesterday, very promptly.
The tippets, are well tippets. Can't really mess those up! They are linen, and their edges have been surged to keep them from fraying.
The Cotehardie... well I will break it down.
Fit- an off the shelf medium from Revival Clothing seems to fit me perfectly. It is form fitting, and gives me that nice Cotehardie profile. The sleeves are a little long, but I am assuming that is done on purpose so the wearer can tailor for a better fit.
Construction- It seems well enough made. I appreciate the flap sewn to the inside of the front of it. So one can lace it up, and not have pieces of their undershirt pull through.
I am not 100% sure I like the lacing. revival even admits that the artwork they took inspiration from shows a buttoned front. They choose to lace however in order for the wearer can achieve the tight fit, without them having to make a garment to measure. They state: "While these are universally buttoned in the Lancelot manuscript, this again requires customers to either have a tailored garment, or to wear their cotehardie with a loose fit. Not satisfied with this, we have chosen to use the same front-lacing that has made our contemporary Agincourt Arming cotte so popular with fighters, and allows a better fit for a wider variety of body-types"
I might have actually been ok with a slightly looser fit, in exchange for the buttons, and may install buttons of my own at a later date.
I am a little disappointed in the color, but that is my own fault. I thought it was going to be the bright blue color shown in the pictures on their website. Apparently the only color they had left was the Light Blue, or what I would call a heather blue. Which probably accounts for why the garment is in the Closeout section.
I do really like the gold color of the sleeves, which are fare more golden in color than the bright yellow shown on the website. I am hoping they will match a pair of yellow/gold HE joined hose fairly well.
All in all, not bad for an off the shelf purchase, especially since the money spent on it was not my own.
Communication- N/A I placed an order, it was shipped. There was no communication with the company.
Price- 5 This item was on closeout for $100 less than the regular price.
Quality- 4 We shall see how this holds up to some of my other clothing.
Shipping Time- 5 The item arrived in about a week.
