WTS Custom Red & White Linen Gambeson - $180
Hey folks,
Well, this pains me greatly... I just received this beautiful gambeson made by the Archive's very own Jollyknight a couple months back. I am thrilled with it, and had planned to work a 14th century harness around it completely. I received a mail hauberk from Icefalcon recently that I'd planned on using for both my late 12th century kit and this future endeavor... But alas, the hauberk is just the right size for the 12th century gear (which is my priority) but the sleeves do not fit over the gambeson, so I can't use the mail for both projects with this gambeson!
As the mail is used for my primary kit, and costs much more than the gambeson, I am going to let go of the gambeson in hopes that someone else can maximize its potential. It is made of several layers of flax linen and is very comfortable and well-padded. It fits me perfectly. I stand 6' tall and weigh 170 pounds. My chest is 38" in circumference and my stomach is 33" around.
I've dropped the price from the initial $225 that I paid for it to $180, plus $15 S/H within CONUS. I take Paypal but will not refuse other payment methods if you check with me first! Cheers.

First off, very cool gambeson! But before you sell it had you considered just altering your shirt? How tight are the maille sleeves over the gambeson? Not fitting at all or just tighter than comfortable for movement?
The easiest way to alter your shirt would just be slice it across the top and add maille as needed to fit (insert broom/spear/long bit of wood through both sleeves and use the bit of wood showing in the neck opening as a handle and that should give you the line for your cut.) I've seen that Ice sells loose rings and rivets on his site and you had asked in another thread about altering riveting tongs to work for round rivets. Good home project maybe?
Just my $0.02

Definitely, I've considered it and am capable of doing so, but it fits perfectly for my late 12th century gear, and that is what I am really trying to nail right now. I don't foresee myself making much of the 14th century gear until next summer, so I can't justify keeping it around if I can't even use it with the mail in a historic getup!

It does not have any arming points. It's got a bit of grease on it, though! Nothing a good cleanin' won't take out of it, or you can leave it 'cuz it ain't that bad. I put it on two or three times, and only once tried to slip the mail over it and when I knew it didn't fit I haven't bothered since - didn't want to mess up the gambeson. It's brand new, really, never been worn beyond the front yard!
