14th century plaque belt for sale.

Post by Amanda M »

I am selling this 14th century plaque belt. It's current length is 40 inches, but I can alter it for a waist size up to 52", or make it smaller too. The price is $8.00 per plaque plain, or $9.00 per plaque with enamel coloring, plus shipping. The plaques are mounted on a sturdy vegetable tanned leather belt and pegged down so that it can be disassembled for easy replacement. This belt is constructed in the same method as the one I made for myself and posted pics of a while back, but is a little lighter because it's soapstone cast and not sand cast. In fact, the plaques for this belt are made from my own belt I wore in battle at Estrella this year, melted down, so in a way it's battle tested already. ;)

The enclosure is intended to be the larger pictured plaque, like the effigy I used as a basis for this belt. However if preferred one of the smaller plaques can be used instead. Here's a picture.

Now that just looks so cool!

Isabella, are these belts going to be a regular stocked item? I ask because I'm poor right now but would love one of these belts later...

I'm planning on making them regularly and offering more designs than just this one. I just happen to have this belt ready to go, and if someone calls dibs it could probably arrive in time for Pennsic even.

Ld Griffynclaw, who is still enamored of the banner you made for him, wants me to ask you where you get your soapstone from. He has just today received a supply of raw pewter and is eager to try his hand at some casting.

On an aside, my device has gone to society. As soon as it passes, I'll be bugging you, in the most polite fashion, to let me pay you to make one of your lovely banners for me.
Respectfully,

I will not. :( I am monetarily in the can't quite pay my bills and not be behind state at the moment. The community college loan officer decided to be a huge bitch and arbitrarily deny my husband his financial aid for the summer semester so while he has resolved the issued with them for the fall, right now we're in a tight spot. I pretty much get home from my shift and work on stuff to sell to keep us afloat.

Man...that sucks. I was hoping to deliver something to you at Pennsic and have my wife try on a belt.
Would a couple of orders help on the $ side? I had a paying joust, and am looking to get something.

Always! Banner orders have pretty much kept us afloat and I only have 2 left to do so until after Pennsic I've got time on my hands.

The awesome thing about the casting is that I taught my husband to do it, so he can help me with a lot of it so I can keep doing banners or carve new stuff at the same time.

As far as the belts go, I didn't color the one I posted. But I can order more belt blanks and dye them in any color pretty much. Or I can take this one apart and dye it. I am hoping if the belts are well received to offer them regularly and in several different plaque designs.

I'll take two banners. Same size as the other one. My heraldry and my lady's.

Send me a total in a PM, and the pay pal address.

Can you do a belt with scallops and seahorses, silver on red (squires)blank?

If you can do custom designs in the plaques I can shoot you a couple orders and post it on my company list.

AWESOME!!!!

You are the mega-bomb. If I haven't told you that yet....

Do you mind if I let my company members know about the belts, and custom options? That is the kind of thing they get all giggles about...

And...your banners are the best in the biz. Yep. This one gets all the chicks...

^_^ I'm completely not above shameless promotion. For custom options I'm pretty much just going to charge material and labor cost, which shouldn't be overly much unless it's really extravagant.

Do you have a web site for your stuff? I'd like to link it on the living history sites I visit, and on our page.

I have this blogspot page:

http://windyvalleybanners.blogspot.com/

I need to post an update so people know I'm still doing stuff. I haven't had the time or money to really mess around with a proper webpage yet. Tomorrow when I'm at work I'll post some information and more current pictures and include some information about belts.
