Need longer straps/belt-blanks

Hello,

I'm working on a pair of ecrance shields and they require guige straps. I went to start figuring out the bolt placement and strap length and realized that the leather I intended to use (actually too thick for the job) is not long enough for me to get a guige strap out of. No biggie I went over to the Tandy web page to order 2 belt blanks but I'm not a gold or elite club member so the mark-up plus the shipping cost is prohibitive.

I have a 'done for Pennsic' objective so now time is of the essence. I need a source for 3 unstained leather straps ~1" wide and ~72" long in about 8oz... and I need them quick... and would prefer to buy from a scadian but will buy from an online source if they come well recomended.

If this doesn't work there is a tack and harness shop not too far away that I might try but it adds a good half hour to my commute home. Anyone got belt blanks to sell?

Have you tried Real Leather People? (www.realleatherpeople.com)

Their adult size belts are 72" long. Not sure if they'd sell you the blanks un-dyed or not but it wouldn't hurt to look into it. I have shop and cell numbers, if you're interested I'll shoot you a PM.

Eamonn,

No I hadn't. I'll give them a call tomorrow.
They seem familiar, do they sell at Pennsic? It wasn't listed on their event page.

Anyone know what day Merchants open at pennsic? I'm headed out land-grab weekend. If there were open I could grab some belts and come home to finish the shields before Warriors of History on Sunday.

I can do you 3 straps 1 inch wide by 72" long in natural, 7/8 ounce for $25 plus shipping. Can ship out the same day if you pay early enough. Give me your zip and I can figure a shipping charge for you. Also will need an email addy for a paypal invoice. Thanks

Yes they sell at Pennsic. I bought a few belts from them at War a couple years ago.

Sean,
You should have ton of Amish Tack/Harness shops down that way. Do what I do go in and get a strap cut to what you need. Cheap easy and you can inspect the leather before they cut it.
