It is quite sturdily constructed of mild steel; the front plates are 16ga and the side/back wrap plates are 18ga and are primed and painted against rust. The outer shell is suede (yeah, I know...). I tried to dye it dark red, and it came out somewhat lighter than I would like. The rivets are clipped and peened roofing nails.
As I intended it for my own use, it is sized for me. I am 5'10" tall and weigh about 175 pounds. My chest measures 42" and my waist 32". The coat's size reflects that I usually wore it over a light gambeson and sometimes a mail shirt, too.
It is lightly used; I've fought in it on perhaps three occasions since I made it in March. It provides excellent protection and should last for years of heavy use. I'm not yet sure what I want for it. I'll have to look around and see what other coats of plates like this sell for. I will entertain offers.
