I've been looking locally (without much luck) for elkskin gloves (heartily recomended for finger gaunts).

Any recommendations for on-line sources? I am about to google it, and just wondered about various AA member's experiences. Thanks!

These look pretty good. No personal experience with them, but I'm planning on getting a set at some point.

FWIW Foxcreek has an exceptional reputation in the motorcycling world.

Thanks!

Thanks much for the link to

Notably, not only are their elkskin prices right in line with those for cheap cowhide gloves, but they also offer XXL sizing! I have been unable to find that size at any storefront.

While my hands aren't XXL, when I make the Easy Hard Gauntlet, I really need to start with XXLs.

Have you tried asking Grettr where he gets the gloves he uses for his gauntlets?

Got em today so no fighting review (yesterday was fight night) but they are comfortable, a large is a nearly perfect fit for my hands (~4.25 across the palm) stitching looks good, leather is soft and squishy. Remind me to post again in a week or 2 after I fight in them a bit.

so close

I ordered elkskin work gloves and some deerskin gauntlets from http://glove-s.com/110T.asp#Work_and_Ou ... kin_Gloves. They arrived at high speed, probably 4 days from ordering to shipping.

Good news: Both sets are very nice and I'll use them both, expect they'll be very durable. The deerskin gauntlets in particular seem more durable than others I've had for fencing.

Bad news: The XXL size elkskin work gloves are not what I would call XXL. They fit my hands very well, but I had hoped they would be roomy enough to make the aforementioned Easy Hard Gauntlet with them. That isn't going to work, not without stretching the gloves.

I'm 6'3, 195 lbs. I have long, thin hands. If you're one of those huge meaty guys who read XXL and hoped to finally find gloves that fit you, I'm sorry to say I don't think these are them.

On the other hand, if there's anywhere else that sells XXL gloves for less than the cost of a cheap bicycle, please do tell.

I called around and found a local farm store says they have them, for $12/pair.

I'll get in there in the next couple of days.

If they have XXL's I'll let you know Corby ;)

Thanks!

On further inspection of the ones I bought, it appears that the RIGHT hand glove might qualify as XXL. Not the left though, which is the one I need for a shield gauntlet.

Luckily I've got a lefty who will need one.
