or patterns for any of the above
I do not need them in perfect condition
in fact used/weathered is preferred

Again, I'm just looking right now but I figured with so many of you lot here on the AA it might be the best place to start looking.

We make high end repro star wars costumes, yet prefer avoid destroying original antiques; an accurate reproduction is just as good. Yet many costuming fans with more appreciation for sci fi and less appreciation for historic preservation have destroyed a lot of the surviving vintage antiques. Shame.

Parts, yeah Id rather have the patterns to make my own anyway (like Paul said, the prices I have found are pretty pricey for a kit I might wear a few days a year anyway)

I am going to a WW1 event next weekend; I will keep my eyes out for what you need. We could always make a pattern from a cheap original.

About 8 years ago, I stumbled across a stash of the bandoliers in the UK. I bought them for around $15 or $20 bucks. I threw them up on Ebay as Star Wars bandoliers, I tripled, and even quadrupled my investment. The same thing with the British gasmask bags...used to buy them for less than $10 and sell them as Indiana Jones musettes. I have had them sell for over $100 to dorks.


If you look at the saddlebags on the creatures the Sandpeople are riding, they are Model-34 German tornisters. In the scene in The New Hope, where the irritating kid is racing around the track, and the Sandpeople are shooting and yelling at him.....my friend looks over at me and says...Earnhart Fans LOL!

We are really trying to keep to Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Jango Fett oriented parts. Some talk of a superior clone trooper suit, beyond that basic leather found items are not something we can compete with really. Only the custom things like Solo or Fett holsters, Vader belts and such.

Biggest problem with SW or sci-fi costumes is that they are so detail-demanding that it can also be very time consuming; moreso than historical pieces that allow for some latitude in accuracy.

I got started on my repro last week

As of last night this is where the build stands

I cut out the leather using a shoulder of light brown leather I had laying around

I traced out the pattern, cut them out, riveted them together, soaked the pouches for a few hours, stuffed them with old Wal-Mart bags, and am letting them dry out

They are still a bit damp but have hardened a little and darkened alot.

As soon as they are completely dry I plan to redo the entire process a couple times.

I also plan to 'weather' them a bit between each cycle
I am thinking that since the originals seem alot flatter than mine (so far) that I might cut out some pine wedges and let them dry around them next time instead of just the packed in plastic bags.
