I've got a set of gauntlets arriving soon made by Grettir the Slow (I'll stop bragging now).

I've got a one handed hammer with a rondel handguard I'm going to use, but I also want to have a nice looking sword to go with it. So, does anyone have a recommendation for any nice looking saber hilts? I've seen plenty for sale that would look great for other sword styles, but nothing in the way of sabers.

I know our game doesn't favor curved blades, but I'd like it to look sort of correct for a polish hussar.

So does anyone have an idea for who sells saber style hilts for rattan?

I don't know of anyone who makes them as a stock Item, but if you contact any black smith I am sure you can get one made.

Might contact Stefan, he does super nice stuff.

Sir Stefhan made a custom Sinclair/Dussack sabre hilt for me...super strong and super nice...I will post some pics of it tomorrow. I highly recommend his work.

I'm on my phone so I'll have to locate the pics, but I used a hame end and the "sabre" cross guard from Windrose fairly successfully to recreate a curved sword for SCA.

Biggest issue I had with the set up was that the hame end was brass and the cross guard aluminum. I would imagine getting the cross guard anodized could help with the look.

I also believe Greenshield had a curved sabre for his Russ kit.

They didn't join up. This was version 1.0 I already scavenged the hilt from that sabre to use on my great sword.

I still have 2 hame ends, I think the next time I'll cut off the back "spine" it didn't really feel right while swinging it. I plan on using leather to cover the grip on my next one.

The biggest deal was that the the hilt was aluminum and the pommel/hame was brass, the mix and match didn't quite look right to me.

I'll get on my External HD and see if I can find pics tonight.

I wanna make sure of something too, the 'hame' that's the bit that covers the knuckles right? Trying to get the correct picture in my head.

You can see the extended "spine" on it. I plan on taking that off next time. I used the hame end for the pommel.

Try searching for "hame ends" on google using the "shopping" option.It's been a hectic week but I will try to get out my external hard drive tonight and get you some pics. I'm on my phone now........I'm still waiting for the AA app.

It turned out alright but surely could use some tweaking.

I wonder if you could do some form of electroplating for that. Give both pieces an even coat of copper or something else. But otherwise it looks good.

I dunno, I may be getting hung up on inconsequentials, but was hoping for some sort of knuckle guard type thing. I know it's less useful in our game since we already mandate some form of hand protection, but I can dream, you know? But, thank you for giving me another idea to consider when this one doesn't pan out.
