Re: Workshop "Battle Forge"
After buying bits and bobs of armour, gradually upgrading
my SCA kit, I decided to finally get a stainless steel helm.
For this I came to Battle Forge on the recommendation of a
friend. So here is my review (and first ever post after almost
a year on here!):
The thing I really appreciated about this transaction was
the excellent communication from Serg. I knew exactly where I
was at: regular messages updating me on progress as well as
visual evidence - here was my helmet, almost completed:
http://io.ua/19669493p
And then, the finished product (multiple pictures):
http://io.ua/19695532p
No money was accepted untill it was at this stage of construction
- completed. I was also sent a picture of the receipt showing the helm
had been mailed and sent. Having the helm pictued in my possession now I
can also say it is fully padded and strapped, period-style which is not
shown in the pictures.
The day I received it in the post, I went to the shire fighter practise
and fought in it - it was ready out of the box, made to measure according
to my head measurements. It is made of 14ga stainless steel and is
absolutely solid. Despite this, it is both comfy and well ventilated.
Lastly, it looks really bloody good. I mean, honestly - look at the pictures!
In conclusion, I rate Battle Forge highly on this quality, very
superbly crafted item. It is the first truly high-end piece of armour
I have purchased during my time in the SCA, and worth every penny.
This is the armourer to come to for top of the range yet reasonably
priced goods. I got perfect service.

Re: Workshop "Battle Forge"
I'd like to talk about 14th century cased greaves and sabatons for SCA foot combat, just the basics of a ball park figure with delivery to Western Australia...
Something vaguely like these….
(I also have no objection to used armour in the right size!)

How much is the brigandine marked "Leeds, 15th century)? What are the measurements?

Re: Workshop "Battle Forge"
Are these guys still around? Their site has stopped working for me.....
Re: Workshop "Battle Forge"
Yes, they are still around. In the past, I had them make me x 2 gauntlets, x 2 helms and just now a set of legs. They do very nice work. This being said, if you are one of those dudes that needs to hear from a merchant every couple days, these guys aren't for you. They do great work, but comm's ain't the best. It has never been an issue for me because they do the work within time specified, at agreed cost and the work has always been of very high quality fully strapped, padded and ready to go.

Can you make these in 2mm (or thicker) stainless steel, and can the faceplate be dished deeper for more nose room?Serg blacksmith wrote: bascinet (Cold-rolled steel 2 mm) http://io.ua/22094599p
