16 ga stainless body covered with upholstery weight green leather. Handle made from 18 ga. mild steel. Leather is contact cemented on and then riveted with stainless dome head rivets.

The grip just fits my hands (I wear an X-L glove).

Some place on this site there's a thread with a manuscript image, I believe from a fencing manual, showing just this kind of shield. Of course, now when I could really use it, I cannot find it

Found the references I had been looking for. This sort of buckler is shown in both DiGrassi and Marozzo and is suitable for late 16th century.
