Heh. When I first got interested in the SCA I asked Gundo to consider building a helmet that looked like an inverted cooking pot, and I'd build a "pitchfork" to fight with, complete with hidden armour for the "filthy peasant" look.

I drifted a bit from that.

I've only tried out the first one I made & gave to a friend at GW. It seeped water a bit when first made, but sealed right up when I coooked a flour & water "gravy" in it for a few minutes. I've been told cooking up some oatmeal works well too. We used the first one at GW several times & never leaked a drop. I'll be trying these two out this evening.

I'm pretty sure they won't exactly be cheap, the first three took about 4 hours apiece & they are made from the Devils Iron (stainless). A rough guess of $100-$125, but I need to do a little figuring before I know for sure. Scot & Maggie of Viking-U-Like get first pick anyway.

You need to talk to Mal too. Or at least Jorunn. That whole camp has been wanting a decent sized kettle for years.

Looks good!

Curses!

You read my mind.....;)

I've been thinking of pounding out a norse "spangenpot" just to do it for a while.
I have a few pics of one some British living history folks were using as a guide, but no pics of anything like an archeological cookware find.

I've pounded out a few crude copper bowls, an iron spoon, and forks at various times, but not a cook pot yet.

Well done Sir, well done.

Make these in iron / CRS and you should have a new target audience.

I haven't actually measured them out, but I would extimate 2 - 2.5 quarts. I'll probably fiddle with a few sizes, and do a couple in mild steel as well.

I'm interested in one or two if you ever decide to make a run of them.

Its been a while and I gave mine away to some friends that really came thru for me on something.
I cant remember how much it held exactly, more than a gallon, less than 5:)
If I was to guess maybe 3 gallons
