Boxlink mail piece for sale- 18X37 inch
Posted: Fri Oct 07, 2011 5:57 am
Something I originally made in 1981 when I was a teenager and had no sources for wire in bulk.
This was originally a mail vest, then a mail skirt, and has been used at various times for other projects.
Its made from number 10 lockwashers, which are spring tempered steel.
I call it box link pattern- its a typical japanese mail weave.
The piece is over 18 inches wide, and a bit longer than 37 inches.
It would make a really good base for a japanese kit- the type where small plates were used connected by mail strips.
The tedious work is done already- you just take the rings apart to add plates.
Or you could just use it as a mail skirt.
I guarantee it won't pop rings..I've already tested that..many times.
This was something like $45 in lockwashers in 1981-probably more like $150 to $200 now.
not counting the many, many hours I spent weaving it a long time ago.
Will fit in a priority mail size medium box.
I'll take $85 for it, shipped anywhere in the US.
