im looking for in particular a cheap helmet,because i am a new fighter. any other things that you offer would help to,i have a low budget.

have you thought about making one?
if you post your general location you may also get more response from those near you.

Have you looked at Rough From The Hammer for body protection?
Their products are formed/dished, that's it. I am told they would need some work (deburring, polishing, strapping, etc...) to make functional (If I am mistaken, please someone correct me). I will be ordering from them shortly & assembling my own "14c-ish" kit. I'm planning on doing some acid etching & dagging to the cops to jazz it up a bit until I can add/upgrade later on down the line. Good way to save some dough if you don't mind some DIY.

As far as helmet, I'm looking at a few options from the Ukraine. Great looking work for a reasonable price.

I'm in the same boat as you. Haven't fought in over 10 years, sold my armour, now trying to get back out & fight (on a budget).

You understand he's selling a kit, right? Just flat pieces of metal, you have to form them and rivet them and pad them yourself.

The gauntlet kit is a great kit for people looking to learn metal-shaping who want a pair of gauntlets at the end. They are however challenging for a newbie project. If you don't have the right tools to shape them and fit them you will spend more money on tools then a pair of gauntlets from an experienced armorer... actually that rule applies to the majority of armor. If you already HAVE tools (and tell us which ones) we can advise you on armor projects that are cost effective. If you have access to borrowed tools and a shop that will be greatly beneficial to getting better fitting armor faster and cheaper.

If you want a pair of gauntlets or helmet NOW however it is best to buy from a reputable source and only do the necessary minimums (padding and maybe straps and buckles). No matter what you do it seems that maintaining SCA armor weapons and shields will require SOME tools at some point.

I believe that there is an active SCA group near Poughkeepsie NY, you might find assistance or a shop there.

i go to the one in kingston,shire of nordenhall in east kingdom. i was just looking at the gauntlets kit,thought it would be pretty cool,im still waiting to hear back for the deal on that helmet i measured my head and it'll fit easily. hope it doesnt fall through though

I know he offers prebending of the metal with the helmets for $10, worth it to save the head ache in my opinion. My message him and see if he would do the same for the gauntlets.
