Post by JousterAlan »

14 ga. GDFB Great Fighting Bascinet, size large. With aventail, chin strap and visor strap. Tried it a couple of times on horseback and decided it wasn't suitable. $120 which covers shipping to lower 48 states. Prefer Paypal.

Out of curiosity, what was wrong with it?

With the aventail attached I can't turn my head as much as I need to while riding; should work fine for a foot fighter, though.

The GDFB bascinets actually come in different sizes?

I thought they really only had one size?

I'm not sure if they all do but I know that one does. Therion has two sizes listed if you need to know more.

Most of the GDFB helmets come (or came) in two sizes, M and L. I recommend always going to the L if you're going to add any padding. Some helmets never had M's, several helmets have had their M's discontinued recently.

Hi Alan I been doing good here, I finally stopped taking custom orders a while back, and my order list is almost gone. I cant wait to be able to go out into my shop again and build things that I feel like building.

Happy Hollidays to you.

Take care

Hm, I see.

Thanks for the input on that.

I've been thinking about one of their pigface bascinets for costuming, though I think I'll wear a bar grill for actual fighting.

I had considered just buying the 14 gauge one in case I ever decided I wanted to try to fight in that type of helm once or twice, but wasn't sure how large or small these come.
I have a 22 inch head so I can wear some rather small helmets..But everything I have ever read about the asian made stuff is that its really kind of a crapshoot for sizing.

Of course, their pigface is kind of simplistic in design, and I have no idea how well they visor fits and pivots, where its eyeslots and such line up....But I want one mostly for costuming first, and all other considerations second.
